Day 38: Synergized Momentum

My bride is home–cannot tell you enough how ecstatic that makes me. She’s definitely my touchstone. While she was away, I slipped from my routine and things I meant to get done quickly ended up takin much longer. Today, waking up with her, I was able to leap right back into things and completed a major milestone with one project and took the first major step in another, unrelated project. The momentum of completing the one fed into the other, which is the inspiration for today’s poem.

Speaking of inspiration and poetry, the first contest I’ll be looking to enter is called Wergle Flomp. Sound interesting? Sign up for The Daily Poet and I’ll tell you about it in our next newsletter! This one looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun.

Day 32: Fort of Fog

For the very first time our “day” doesn’t match up with our “date.” It’s a really good feeling. 32 days of poetry and counting! Just 333 more days of poetry to go! Love that number, 333.

Yesterday a rainstorm rolled through and left a blanket of fog covering everything. It’s still with us today and inspires this afternoon’s poem.

Enjoy the first poem of our second month on this creative journey.

Day 31: Your Lips

I warned you there would be more love poems.

Today marks another massive benchmark on this journey. We are now officially one month in to The Everyday Poet challenge. 31 days down and 31 poems written.

This one’s for my bride, whose love and support make me so much more.

Day 15: Speak

I visited a group last night dedicated to public speaking where I ended up giving an impromptu 3-5 minute speech. I found myself reciting yesterday’s poem and sharing my goals and resolutions for this year. Objectively, I think I did well, definitely room for improvement though, but standing in front of strangers and speaking brings up all kinds of feelings–many of them physical. The funny thing is how much of it hit me AFTER I was done. Very glad I went. I sense a great opportunity for personal development here.

Day 7: The Hunter’s Sabath

Happy one week anniversary, everyone! Hard to believe we’ve made it to this bench mark. Feeling pretty accomplished right now. Also a little tired.

The last few days have been crazy, which has been a great test and proven to myself my own commitment to this personal creative challenge. I’ll be able to relax a bit and focus on my other pursuits for a bit, but last night I was so wired from all the activity that I had trouble initially sleeping. I was like a grumpy 5 year old at bed time. Crashed hard finally and woke up invigorated and inspired.

Today is going to be a good day. This next week is going to be a good week. Same for the month and year. I’m finding that balance between pursuing my purpose, being a provider, and learning when and how to rest and enjoy the life my bride and I are building together. Thanks for sticking with my this far. Here’s to one milestone passed and many more to come.
