Day 13: Contamination

Our puppy is sick with Parvo. It is a dangerous virus to puppies. Fortunately, she’s doing very well and is being treated by a loving support system of amazing people. Part of the recovery process is keeping her contained while she’s positive for the virus, so that she doesn’t risk getting anyone else sick. Hence today’s poem, late though it may be…

Day 115 and Day 117; Brain (Not) Dead, Cannot Connect

Another double post today. Sunday I was too brain dead to do more than jot down my poem when I was struck by a sudden and quick burst of inspiration. Honestly I’ve no idea how I wrote it because I was such a gibberish mess by Sunday afternoon I could barely string a sentence together (just ask my bride). That condition is actually what inspired that day’s poem.

Brain (Not) Dead

And I completely dropped the ball yesterday. No poem. Travel, Fatigue, and general procrastination defeated me. BUT I have today’s poem right here. This one brought to you by a misbehaving internet connection.

Cannot Connect

Day 102: Chrysalis in the Cinders

I went to the park to walk my dog and de-stress from the day. It was a good day, just long and hard and I needed to unwind with my puppy.

The park backs up to some houses, one of which has a fence that is incomplete. The people who live there have a pair of dogs. They’ve gotten out before and caused some minor mischief, nothing serious. They got out again today and chased my dog, who chased them back. The woman who lives in the house came out screaming and cussing at me, furious that I dare walk my dog past her house and get her dogs riled up.

I have no idea why this bothers me as much as it does. It could be any number of combinations of things. This year, is a year of transformation and I think that right now I’m experiencing some growing pains.

Here’s to hope, to love, and to growth.
