Day 45: Love of Art

Happy Valentine’s Day!

To celebrate, my bride and I had a romantic lunch and then visited the Houston Museum of Fine Art. My beloved’s mother was a professional artist who taught my bride. There were tears of joy.

Today’s poem is an amalgamation of quotes we spoke while admiring O’keefe, Hassam, Picasso, and Matisse–to name a few.

Day 36: Your Absence

Last night my cohost, partner in crime, and good friend Eduardo joined me in recording the pilot episode for The Everyday Poet Podcast. We’ll be recording more episodes once we know how long production is going to take and will Schedule their release accordingly. It was a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to many more episodes.

That was last night. This morning I find myself strongly missing my bride. She’s away for work right now and I’m simply not as much without her. Keenly feeling her absence today.

You are missed, Amor.

Day 31: Your Lips

I warned you there would be more love poems.

Today marks another massive benchmark on this journey. We are now officially one month in to The Everyday Poet challenge. 31 days down and 31 poems written.

This one’s for my bride, whose love and support make me so much more.

Day 21: Hole in the Wall

Yesterday my bride and I went on a lunch date and struck gold at a tiny place called Happy Coffee House that serves a seriously mean Cuban coffee and high quality Cambodian food. It’s a “blink and you’ll miss it” place and your life is a little less rich for having missed it. Look it up if you’re ever in Galveston, Texas.

This successful discover comes right in the heels of another. It is our goal to discover all of the hidden gems near us and so far we’re on a roll! This poem is an ode to those small, out of the way restaurants that are beyond rewarding for those willing to give them a try.

Day 3: Good Morning, Amor

Before anything else, thank you everyone who liked my page/post/poem yesterday! That was really encouraging.

Taking a photo of the rough draft directly from my poetry journal ended up working out so much better than retyping it. It was said (sadly I forget by who) that no plan survives first contact and that’s definitely true here. I am revising my implementation process.

The new plan? Post directly here with a photo of the rough draft poem. Critique of some of these poems will be conducted via the upcoming podcast, which will also include readings of my poetry and discussions of poetry in general.

None of which, I assume, is why you are here today! So without further ado…

Good Morning, Amor

Brace yourself. Love poems are coming. I’m a romantic, madly in love with my bride, and she often serves as my muse. You’ll be seeing many more poems dedicated to or inspired by her in the future.

Big favor, readers? Let my know if my chicken scratch is legible? If need be I’ll come back and type this up below the picture so that it’s actually readable.
