Day 127: To Be Diurnal

Today’s poem brought to you by the combination of an early morning with the inspiration of a blank page next to yesterday’s poem. The symmetry simply appealed to my muse.

To Be Diurnal

Day 110: Present

Thinking about time and space again this morning, as well as personal goals, both for this year and for life in general. I’m passing several major milestones and it has me thinking about where I am right now, where I wanted to be, and where I want to be in the future knowing and experiencing what I have. It’s given me a particular appreciation for my current positioning in space-time. More than appreciation, I feel as if I am, perhaps somewhat belatedly, learning to use my present for more.

Day 173: Love and Laughter and Sleep

My bride’s been working in Houston all week and thanks to my own work schedule I didn’t get to see her until late last night. Neither of us sleep especially well when apart. Coming home for a productive day to spend some quality time with her before bed was wonderful.

Day 60: You Are Not Invisible

Today marks another milestone. That’s two months down! Ten more to go.

It seems fitting to mark this occasion with a love poem dedicated to my better half and creative partner in crime, my bride. We men are not always the best communicators. Not to say that all men are terrible at it, only I’ve found that those of us in passionately loving relationships have a tendency to miss things. We fail to confer with our partners, or simply forget things they tell us in passing. And it’s not done out of any sort of misogynistic default or dismissal so much as simple distraction.

Love makes fools of us all, and I am no exception.
