Day 300 & Day 301: Drizzle; Numbers and Noise

Yesterday’s poem written before a long drive through some yucky weather. Too heavy to be called mist, too light to be called rain. Just wet enough to make the roads fun to drive on and seep into everything.

Drizzle

This morning’s poem brought to you from that “I don’t know where this is coming from” part of my mind. I’m honestly not sure if it’s a form of insight or simply my attempt to process everything that’s going on lately in the world. There just seems to be so much…

Day 256 & Day 257: Iron Sharpens Iron, Backroads

Another two-for-one deal today. Yesterday’s poem was inspired by an offhanded text message my bride sent. Today’s by a conversation about traveling I had with my parents.

Day 135: Purpose Driven Engine Two Point Oh

Got to thinking during my quiet time this morning about something my bride said to me about the way I have focused on becoming a writer. I am purpose driven. This year more so than any other time in my life. That said, I’ve been sluggish lately, especially in a creative capacity.

Good changes are in progress and I need to take advantage of the opportunities they are affording me. To do so I am going back to basics. Today I am returning the the goals that I set for myself this year. I am re-examining my processes and the balance in my life.

Day 130: Dancing With The Muse

Not a two-fer today, but a two pager. This year has been a year of growth and journeying. There is madness here, but there’s also a method to it. I’ll let you know when it all comes together.

Day 88: Paradise Found

Had a special moment with my bride where we experienced a concrete visualization of our goals. Less beautiful was the place than the moment with my favorite person in the world.

Day 71: Misty Morning Road

Confession. These last few weeks have been a little tough. I keep getting sick and I’ve been bouncing back and forth between Computer Purgatory and Computer Hell. It’s had me down and I steadily slipped away from the good habits and routines I set forth to establish for this new year and new life. Today I got up early and set myself back onto that path of self betterment.

The sea fog is back in town full force today after our first glimpse of sunshine in weeks. It, the drive to work, and my return to the positive systems that have brought me this far inspired today’s poem.

Day 35: Thesis of Life

You ever have your whole day planned out? You’re proud of it. Know that you’re going to be productive. Pleased that you’ve managed to work everything together just so. Why, your schedule is practically a work of art.

Then a phone call. Good news or bad. Disruption. The plans are shattered and you’re left rushing forward through the day trying to pick up as many of the original pieces as you can along the way. Blessings in disguise and lessons to be learned here.
